Sail Without You, Lover

A fleet of wild despair sails within,

catching wind of the sorrow I feel after losing you.

It embarks on the soul-searching journey, deep within the caverns of my heart. Along the way, it picks up stray passengers, like: angst, chaos, loneliness, complete and utter bafflement, and skepticism.

How can one person cause you to feel so much? How were you the true captain of my emotions – twisting and turning the very wheel inside of me, until I no longer could gain back control.

Cause that’s what you have always been…

The captain of my heart.

The very reason behind it beating and the very reason it’ll continue on, yet, in the wrong direction now.

You’re no longer here to guide me.

I am a broken vessel, left wondering and sailing towards an unknown tomorrow.

So very unknown – but one thing is true, my love.

I must learn to be my own captain now.

In time, I will learn how to take back control, and I will once again be anchored, steady, and strong.

Until then, carry on dear self. I’ll lean into the directional pull of wherever this mess takes me.
