The late night hour passed quickly as if it were in a hurry. Fog filled the street, clouds covered the sky, and the stranger stood against the darkness of the low hanging branches of the evergreen trees.
He heard her laugh; his eyebrow twitching. There, amongst the only light to grace the street ahead of him stood the woman with red painted lips. She did not know it yet as she stood floppily against another man’s grasp, but he soon hoped he could make her his.
He never considered himself a man to be enchanted by the beauty of a woman, but as soon as his eyes laid upon her, his heart had been captured.
It was in the homey coffee shop on a lonely Friday night that he had spotted her first. His heart had skipped a beat, and for a second, he thought he might be having a heart attack. But without a doubt, her beauty was worth a hundred of them a day, he jokingly thought to himself.
Standing there now, in the cover of darkness, he thought about that day and the new found feeling that had come upon him.
He smiled gently, staring at her once more before slipping out of the trees and beginning his walk home, careful not to be seen.
